Car auctions are a wonderful way to find a great car at a great price.

The government agency that puts the cars up for auction often will place very low starting bids on their impounded cars. When searching for a car at police impounds start out with an idea of what type of car youre looking for. Dont walk into an auction blindly. Have an idea on what type of car you or your family needs. Do you need a four door vehicle or will two doors work? Are you searching the auctions at the police impounds for a car that offer a large trunk area, a car good on gas or an oversized truck to pull your boat? Deciding what type of vehicle you want before the auction is helpful and will keep you from bidding on a car that you wont be happy with later on.

Many cars are auctioned off at police auctions in hopes of recovering a minimum amount of money. Prices for cars at police impounds are often very reasonable and can be bought for much less than if they were for sale by their owner. When you first start to search the police impounds for a nice car, you might start by going to an auction and seeing how many others are there to bid on impounded cars. If there happens to be many people there trying to bid on the same car youd like to bid on, you will obviously have to bid a higher amount. Try to find an auction with police impounded cars with fewer bidders.

Many auctions will let you view the exterior and interiors of their cars up for auction. You will not however be able to test drive the cars. Bid on these impounded vehicles knowing that you are taking a chance on the actual condition of the car. Be prepared to have work done on the engine and other unseen parts of the car. Great deals can still be found on cars at police impounds but you will most likely need to have cash money on you. If you should happen to win the bid on a car, most auctions require that you pay at the end of the auction. Be prepared to drive your new vehicle home immediately.
