Pool Table Lights – Design Aesthetics For Your Recreation Room

When looking for pool lights, you want them to blend in with your recreation room. There are several things to consider when selecting pool table lights.

The majority of the lamps come in two styles: bar & shade and frame style. There are long bars with the bar and shade style lights. These bars for the most part, are made of metal. The metal bars hang from one of more chains. There is a canopy to which the chains are connected to that supports the light.

At the bar’s bottom, the shades are connected. The shades also have a light fixture that usually contains one bulb each. There are usually three shades with bar & shade lights. With that, you will also find lights with two and four shades. However, the lights with three shades seem to be the most common.

With the frame style, also known as box style, you may find the lights showing in a panel that surrounds the light’s shape. Or the lights may show in several panels that are constructed of metal, frame or wood. This style is used for large stained glass lights. They also have chains of two or more that are connected to the ceiling canopy.

There are also Pendant Pool Table lights. These lights have separate light fixtures that hang by themselves. They can be hung from a bar or from the ceiling area. Rod Mounted Pool Table lights don’t use chains. They are mounted into the ceiling canopy with rods. The rods can be adjusted for various heights.

With the lights, you have the light shades. There are three different kinds of shades used and they’re all popular for recreation rooms. They are glass, metal and synthetic. You can get glass shades in clear or stained glass.

You will pay less if you use metal shades. Metal shades are cheaper than glass shades. These shades can bring out the best in pool table lights. They make them have a fresh look. You can also go with acrylic or plastic shades if you’re on a budget. If you’re looking for something extraordinary, there are leather, wood and crystal shades.

You will have to know the measurements of your pool table lengthwise before you can install pool lights. Here are the estimated length measurements for:
• A 7’ pool table can have lights up to 44 inches long
• An 8’ pool table can have lights up to 60 inches long, but not less than 40
• A 9’ pool table can have lights up to 50 inches long or more
In order not to hang pool table lights too high, it’s best that the pool table bottom measures between 33” – 36” above the playing area. Following these guidelines can give your pool table and recreation room the right touch.
