Porsche Information You Need To Know
|
During the early 1990s Porsche suddenly found the demand for its cars in a real slump. Porsche quickly came to the realization that they were going to have to make their cars competitive once again and that meant they were going to have to make changes that would entice the consumer back into their market. So do you have any idea how they went about that? You might be surprised to discover they actually hired Japanese consultants. You have to admit there is a little bit of irony in that. Now the Japanese haven't earned their reputation in the automotive industry for nothing. After hiring the Japanese consultants Porsche produced their first Porsche that was absolutely flawless. In the past few years the entire strategy of Porsche has changed a lot. For example you won't find the parts made in Malaysia anymore. Yes if you have a peak under the hood of your older Porsche that's exactly what you'll find stamped on many of the parts. There have also been some major designs changes occur. In 1995 the front engine mount was discontinued in the 928 and it had already been discontinued in the 968 the year before. In 1997 Porsche introduced their new mid mount engine called the Boxster so when they introduced the revamped 911 which was called the 996 they had an entire new strategy for marketing their car. The previous marketing strategy marketed to a buyer that was more mature, more sophisticated and at least 40 years of age. But the Boxster went after a buyer that was much younger. No longer were they looking for a sophisticated buyer, instead they were looking for a buyer that was fun, a bit of a risk taker, and a buyer that was lacking commitment. But Porsche wasn't about to throw away their older more sophisticated market. Instead they began to take an interest in marketing vehicles that were more than sporty which is why they were suddenly playing in the SUV with Volkswagen. Right move? Hmm time will tell. What do you think? To date it appears to be a smart marketing move. The Cayenne SUV continues to grow in popularity and demand. And there is certainly no question that overall the market is hot on SUV's which is why so many manufacturers have added one to their line up. Since the beginning of time Porsche has been a company that has built a reputation for its sporty cars whether crossing the line will work will take some time to determine but what's known for sure is that before you decide to buy into this new marketing plan this Porsche information is a must!
