Beans are another great vegetarian protein source. Soybeans have the highest level of protein with 29 grams of protein per serving. Black beans have 15 grams, kidney beans offer 15 grams of protein, and navy beans offer 16 grams of protein per serving. Grain also contains proteins. Barley contains 4 to 5 grams of protein per 1.4 cup serving, oat bran contains 7 grams of protein, white rice contains 4 grams of protein, and bulgur wheat contains 6 grams of protein per serving. Your other options for vegetarian protein sources include meat substitutes, hot cereals, fresh vegetables, raw fruit, nut butters, milk substitutes like soy milk or rice milk, and soy products like tofu.
