Protein Isolate - Knowing The Basics

When you research dietary supplements you run across a lot of terms that look like they could be the same thing. One pair of similar looking terms are protein isolate and protein concentrates. While these two terms are related they do not refer to the same thing.

First, while both of these items are made from basically the same protein source they are very different products. The protein isolate offers a much higher quality protein derivative and as a result it is a lot more expensive then the protein concentrate. This is especially true of whey protein isolates and whey protein concentrates.

Protein isolate is the best protein supplement to buy. This is because your body can easily absorb it into your bloodstream. This is also the best option because it has recently been discovered that this ingredient seems to support and enhance your immune system.

There are many products that contain protein isolate and protein concentrates. Some products will offer one or the other, while other products will offer a combination of these two protein types. In most cases the more isolate that is contained in the product the more expensive it will generally be.

One product that contains whey protein concentrate and isolate is Sylvester Stallone's Instone Intake Learn. While this product contains both the concentrate and the isolate it contains a larger volume of concentrate than isolates. This produce contains 18 grams of protein per serving, 110 calories, 7 grams of carbs, and 3 grams of dietary fiber. It retails for about $25.00.

One product that contains more isolate than concentrate is Champion Nutrition UltraMet Scientifically Complete High-Protein Meal. This product contains 42 grams of protein, 24 grams of carbohydrates, 280 calories, and 2 grams of fat. This product retails for over $50. This shows how much the price of a protein supplement depends on the amount of isolate that the product contains.

Generally speaking most protein supplements will contain a combination of both isolates and concentrates. When you are shopping for a supplement you will want to find a product that offers the highest concentration of isolates and the lowest concentration of protein concentrate that you can afford. This way you will be getting the purest form of protein as possible.

While it is important to get a pure source of protein, a high concentration of isolate does not guarantee that you will see better results. To ensure that you maximize the benefits of your protein supplement you will need to put in the time at the gym, consume the right number of calories per day, get the right balance of nutritional elements, and you will need to make sure that you get enough sleep. Without all of these pieces to your muscle building puzzle, you will not get the results that you want. If you need help with any of these elements you should talk to your doctor or to a nutritionist. These professionals will be able to tell you what you need to eat and in what quantities to provide your body with the building blocks that its needs to produce muscle mass.
