Quilted Stainless Steel Backsplash

Your home dcor says a lot about you and it sets a mood and an environment. If you are thinking of doing some redecorating and want to get your investment back then the kitchen is the room to attack and a quilted stainless steel backsplash is the place to start.

Let's face it remodeling can be pricey especially if you undertake a major project like redoing an entire room. And when it comes to resale some projects will pay you back better than others. The kitchen is one of those rooms that will give you a 100% return on your investment.

So where to start in the kitchen. Well lets have a look at three areas to begin with - flooring, countertops, and backsplashes.

These days laminate floors seem to be the answer to everything and they certainly do look great and they are easy to maintain. Now that said if you like to step outside the norm just a little why not consider slate? It's comparable in price although in some areas it may be a little more costly, it will last forever unlike laminate, it's rich and classy and there's just not much that will beat the look of it.

Your countertops are also an important part of your kitchen. It's always important to choose a functional finish. No textures or materials that are hard to clean. If your budget will allow granite or marble are always nice.

That said for most of us granite isn't an option due to cost. Marble may be and there are many other terrific options such as Arborite. There are terrific patterns and colors to choose from and there is even a faux granite or marble if you like.

Now the backsplash. What really looks good is a light colored countertop and then the quilted or checkerboard stainless steel backdrop. It's stunning!

Choose something from a soft palette like a cream. Stay away from straight white as it is too bright and actually takes away from your dcor. Place your checkerboard backdrop at a height of 4 to 6 inches. It's going to look stunning. I guarantee it!

Depending on the condition of your appliances the time may have come to replace them. Sometimes it's better to budget for this and replace them before trouble starts and then replace the fridge, stove, and dishwasher so that you can match appliances.

Matching appliances is very important and if you don't deal with them and then one appliance dies and you replace that you tend to land up with mish mash over time. So why not bite the bullet and replace all your major appliances at once. Heck you might even get a deal?

Remember that your lighting is also important to your room. You should have task lighting, ambient lighting, and spot lighting. Yes! All three types are needed, especially in the kitchen. You can find some great looking fixtures online so be sure to check around and consider going with stainless or brushed nickel.

Your kitchen remodeling starts with a simple quilted stainless steel backsplash and like any work of love it simply grows from there. So are you ready?
