Rajasthani Music Pitched On a High Scale



If there is something to relive in Rajasthan, it is music that obviously makes our mind wander around the eclectic symphony of this desert state. Music in Rajasthan ranges from the soft trinkers to thunderous kettle drums, from simple slender flutes to intriguing trumpets, from rustic looking resonators to elegantly developed bowing and plucking devices. All these render an awesome desert destination where the scintillating music rhymes fantastically with the elegant lifestyle of the place.

Once in Rajasthan it is really rejuvenating to see the folk musician of Rajasthan, dress up in their traditional attire and decorate their musical instruments in colourful attire. It is how the natives rejuvenate themselves after hard work in the harsh desert sun and the rocky terrain. Music is a big criteria for the overall success of tourism in Rajasthan. It is not just music but accompanied with it are dances like Ghoomar Dance, Gait Ghoomar, Chart Dance, Kachhi Ghodi and Fire Dance that can exclusively be seen in Rajasthan. It is music that has glued with dance to give rise to an effect that can only be witnessed in Rajasthan.

Folk songs like 'Indhani', 'Lawarji', 'Jallo', 'Hichaki', 'Olyun', 'Sapno', 'Kurjan' etc. also are a great source of entertainment and fun for the natives of Rajasthan. These songs are melodious and move on a fast track and it is the reason why these music can make the audience become ecstatic. Communities like the Dholis (both Hindus and Muslims), Dhadhis, Mirasis, Mangamars, Fedalis, Kalawats, Qawwals, Tangas, Patars and Kanchari, sing for the entertainment of others and aid to the promotion and perseverance of Rajasthani folk form of music.

In a nut shell, the Ragas and the beats of music of Rajasthan is enchanting and fascinates everyone who listens to it. It is like a thread that links every visitor to its end with an uncompromising sweetness of style. People from the western nation now seem to to be fascinated with Rajasthani music and would introduce a lot of its style in the western numbers. This has led to the mingling of the Rajasthani culture with Western music.

In the recent years, India has seen a huge increase in the number of tourists visiting Rajasthan. Although, most of them come to explore the destination Rajasthan, but a considerable number of tourists also come for lessons on the music of Rajasthan. This has led to a lot of revenue generation for Indian Tourism Industry and so the Indian government itself has started to encourage institutions that aid in the practice of learning of western and Indian classical music.
