Recruitment Jobs
|
The simplest way to think about how you should craft your early years in the business, is to think about what the director of a recruitment agency is looking for in his recruitment consultants. Firstly he wants people with the relevant experience in either temporary or permanent recruitment positions. Secondly he would want someone who either has experience of working in the sector he recruits for, or working as a recruitment consultant for that sector. Thirdly he would look for someone who has succeeded in their past jobs in recruitment. Finally he would look for what type of person you are; are you positive? Do you have steely determination? Etc. The best course of action for anyone looking for a long term prosperous future in recruitment should mould themselves around this description, in their early years of employment. If you can, you will be hot property and may well find yourself in a bidding war between rival agencies. Once you have established what you need to have on your CV in a few years time, you need to act fast. First step now is to find yourself a job in a temporary or permanent recruitment. If possible you shouldn't necessarily work for the most money, but work at the best job. You can easily make up for lost earnings in the future. Stay for half a year or so in one type of recruitment and then move to a new company or department to experience the other type of recruitment. The important thing to remember here is that you need to be able to show that you have been a high achiever in both types of recruitment so you need to work hard from the day you start to the day you finish. If you have an ideal company that you would like to work for in the future, and you know what their specialism's are in, you should try to work in that sector. This doesn't mean you have to get a job as an accountant if you want to specialise in financial recruitment in the future. You can experience the sector by working in admin or in HR, or maybe even in a trainee position. All you need to do is get a good understanding of what the sector requires from individuals working in particular jobs. If you can establish some sound experience in recruitment and get some sector specific experience in your first 3 or 4 years of employment you could well be on track for a shot at the big paying jobs, provided you can demonstrate you were successful. The recruitment sector is fast paced and you need to strike whilst the iron is hot. Spend a few years grinding out success and moulding your CV, and you will almost certainly be in with a shout of the big paydays in the future.
