Relieve Pain With Neck Traction Techniques

In a healthy neck, the curvature that we all see must have 40-60 degrees. In such a position, the spinal cord is relaxed and no pressure is exerted on the nerves. If this angle is affected, then we feel pains and muscle tension; a good solution to solve this is neck traction. There are solutions that work only temporarily, but they can give you some relief. When the head is a little stretched, we can feel how the tension is gone. You can also use a technique that is called overhead traction; your neck and head are surrounded by a harness and on the other end of this harness a weight is put so you can feel it pulling. The simplest way is to ask someone to slowly pull your head upwards. But there are also solutions that have a stronger effect than these ones. You should know that when the curvature of your neck has a different shape than it should be, then it is called a misalignment or a subluxation of the spine. When such things happen, your nerves are pressed, resulting in annoying pains. Neck traction is very much used for the treatment of people with subluxation of the spine, but it can be used by those that are not in so much pain, as well. In order to establish if the neck curvature is affected, an x-ray test is needed. This can also be seen with the naked eye: the line drawn between the middle of the ear and the middle of the shoulder should be vertical; otherwise, it is a sign of trouble. In our daily activities, we tend to protrude our heads forward, and, by repeating this, we get this lack of alignment. This happens in a lot of time, but it happens. If you are used to spend a lot of time in front of the computer or reading, in time, you will get neck problems. Lets see how the neck of a football quarterback is solicited during a game. When the quarterback is hit from behind, in slow motion, we can see how he arches his body, including his neck. But he is trained to receive such hits, so, even if, in our eyes, he gets shaken badly, he rapidly copes with the situation, and, again, his whole body gets back into place, and so is his neck. Our spine is made out of vertebrae which are more likely to shift if we do something inconvenient for them. A very brisk movement, or under extreme conditions, they may be affected, just like after prolonged bad posture. In cervical lordosis, a group of vertebrae is affected and the condition is, most of the time, caused by a severe trauma. But, as we said before, not only accidents can lead to misplacement of the segments in our spine. Long activities that involve keeping our heads down or lower, or protruded more than their normal position, leads to this, as well. Neck traction can solve this problem. No more pain, no more muscle tension, it is clearly a solution to be taken into consideration. Applying preventing therapy also helps, as it can stop problems from appearing in the first place.
