Reset Linksys Router - Tips for doing it Yourself

Most of us have plenty of passwords to remember on our work and home computers. Sometimes we can become blocked about which one goes where. This may result in you needing to reset Linksys router so that you can gain entry to the system. When you do so everything associated with that router is going to default to what the manufacturer had sent it out with. So if you have any customizations on it you will also have to reset them as well.

Before you start, you need to turn off the modem that operates your internet. You may not realize it but there is a reset button on each Linksys router. All you need to do is hold that button down for at least 30 seconds. To help ensure this doesn't get pushed by accident you will need to use a pin or a paper clip to hold down that reset button for 30 seconds.

Then you can log into the system, and immediately start to reconfigure it to your specifications. Many individuals find that to be the most time consuming and difficult part of the process. If you have the right steps though this configuration process isn't any big deal. Don't forget to turn your modem back on to the computer though so you can immediately get started.

First, you need to connect your computer to one of the Ethernet ports. You will need to select a browser to use to connect to the internet. It won't matter which one you use so go with one you are familiar with. Go to http://192.168.1.1/ and you will immediately see a pop up box. You will need to enter both a user name and password here for your Linksys router if you have a newer model. To help you with the reconfiguration process you should have written information tucked away with all of your configurations on it.

In most instances the reset Linksys router password is going to be admin. For those that require a user name and a password then you can use admin in both of these fields. The older models of the Linksys routers only ask for a password. If you are using a Comcast Linksys router the reset password is going to be 1234. If those don't work for you contact the issuer of the router for further information.

Following these steps you will be able to reset Linksys router on your own. You won't have to pay for a computer repair service to take care of it for you. At the same time you can have immediate access to your computer. The frustration of being locked out until someone can take care of resetting it for you can be completed avoided.
