Rugs and Carpets Brief History

Most homes today have at least one room with a rug or carpet in it. There are a lot of different brand names, colors, weave, and sizes to think about. What you are interested in before buying makes sense to study. Buying a carpet is something you will be putting a lot of expense in and you want what is going to be the best for your needs to last longer.

When deciding to buy your carpet or rugs you'll need to do some measuring and decide on the colors that you like. Myself, I would want it to be a natural color so if I wanted to change my colors I could. Do some research before making your purchase and look around for the different patterns and styles; there are so many different weaves and colors alone, not to think about the expense you'll be putting into it. Check out the different materials used and the texture you want. The materials choice of texture, are as important when buying a carpet as the colors and size is.

Carpet and rugs go back centuries in time. At one time carpet was worth more than money and was used for many things. Carpets were hung on the walls and floors of tents to prevent insects from getting in. Saddlebags were made of carpet, praying was done on a carpet and even used for sleeping on instead of beds.

Years ago carpets were all made by hand making different knots to bring out the pile and patterns. By using the knots and patterns carpets became the exotic direction and class making them very precious.

Brief history unfolding:
Carpets years ago came in different names to represent the people and area there they were being made. The Persian carpet was known to come out sometime before the 6th century BC, the Indian Woolen carpets were introduced during the 3rd century BC, and Turkoman woven carpet showed up before the 6th century and the Chinese came out with the felt carpet during the 8th century. During the 8th century the Caucasian woven carpet came out, the Turkish introduced their hand knotted carpet in the 12 century and in the 16th century the Mughal Indian carpet was started to be marketed. Since this the carpet world has increased more and more even by recycling plastic to make hold up longer.

There isn't a lot of difference between a run and carpet only the size. Rugs come in by different shapes and sizes usually to just fit in a certain area. People use rugs to put in front of a chair or in the center of the floor to help prevent wear to the carpet on the bottom. Rugs are used to offset the décor in the room when matching colors. People put the rugs of different colors and sizes in doorways or in front of a door coming in from outside to catch the tracking in of dirt and water. Rugs can be used to protect an area that is walked on a lot more that others. Some people have hard wood floors and they put an area rug in the center of the room to provide décor to the room itself.

Carpets room size should fit from one wall another. Carpets will provide warmth to your feet and help keep the energy cost down especially when there isn't a basement under the home. Décor is important to a lot of people and carpets can provide that as well with the different patters and texture along with the colors.

Be sure to have some idea of what you want to put in your room or rooms before purchasing them. Do a lot of looking around because one store might specialize in one brand and style while another has something else. You can even get samples and take them home to match the colors or design to your room.

Have fun shopping but be very sure before making the final purchase.
