The SDLT tapes protect your Investment because the SDLT-600 has the feature of backward compatible, and it can read the data from its previous generation SDLT-320 tape cartridge. So, additional investment can be saved. The SDLT tapes are highly durable and stable as their design includes dual coating, and the substrate is also enhanced. The robust Super DLT tapes keep the precious data and investment of the company safe and protected. The 300GB native recording and robustness of the SDLT tape helps to save investment and at the same time also can handle the increasing storage requirements. The SDLT tape utilizes the lazer for the alignment of data recording heads. The SDLT has new advance technology called the POS (pivoting optical servo). The POS is located at the backside of tape cartridge. In SDLT tapes, the lazer reads the servo. That is why the SDLT tapes have advantage over other tape formats because, magnetic pre formatting is not required in SDLT tape technology. So even in high magnetic field, the Super DLT cartridges can be used. The recording tracks have been increased, and for recording purpose only the magnetic surface of SDLT tape cartridge is utilized. Less tape mounts are required, therefore the restore and backup process becomes more faster. The data compression is supported by all the Super DLT drives. The SDLT tape cartridge has tape coated with ceramic, the purpose is to provide the magnetic stability for archival applications over longer period of time. The other additional features of SDLT tapes are anti static and are dust resistant. These features help the tape from damage. The Super DLT tape has more write & read head life because the tape has dense & dual coating. The density of the tape is enhanced with additional coating and SPET (Super PET). The link between the tape and the drive leader is secured with the help of leader buckling technology. A new lock mechanism is also included to reduce the tension between the tape and the head. It also protects the tape during the movement.
