Sanding Hardwood Floors
|
Sanding your hardwood floor is usually done because you are either fixing a problem area, or because you are installing a new floor. Sometimes, people sand a floor to get rid of old varnish and finish before adding a fresh cost of varnish and then finish. Whatever reason is yours, or maybe you have a whole new reason, sanding hardwood floors is at best difficult. Sanding those floors is tedious and makes for one sore body the next day. Usually, most people will rent a sander. A sander is quite expensive and most people do not find they need one often enough to validate the purchase of a sander. Then you should have plans to get the sander to your home in the morning. The night before, remove everything from the room you want to sand. I even suggest removing pictures and decorations from shelves. Sanders really throw up some dust and debris. If you leave your belongings in the room to be sanded, you will get a dusty, dirty mess. Also, be sure to add a plastic covering over the doors and any chimney you may have. Open the window for ventilation and fresh air. You should always think safety first. Be sure that you wear protective goggles, a dust mask, and ear plugs if you are sensitive to loud noises. If you get dizzy anywhere during the process, take a break. Once you have the sander, you should follow the instruction manual that will come with the rented sander. I suggest you always start with the sander drum off of the ground. You always want to take steady, even swipes. Never let the sander stay in one position too long because when you are sanding hardwood floors, you can cause holes, gouges, and streaks in the sensitive finish. There is always another option. You can hire someone to do sand your hardwood floors for you. This will save you time, and trouble. This is perfect for people unable to complete this task on their own. In addition, sometimes a professional can give the better look to your enchanted hardwood floors. About The Author: Alphonso has been working in the home remodeling industry for last 5 years.
