Satellite Broadband for the Newshound

While there are so many news channels on television today, some people just can't get enough. For the true newshound, there is nothing like a satellite broadband connection. Keeping apprised has never been easier or more fun. The "blogging" phenomenon has come to dominate the news cycle in myriad ways. In many cases, the big television news networks dedicate time and resources to searching the best of the blogs, looking for leads.

While a great many blogs are fairly similar to one another"”and some are truly "out there", there are a lot of blogs online that offer excellent reporting, intelligent and insightful commentary and a wide variety of views. One of the aspects of blogs that's made them so popular is that the editors typically link to their sources, allowing readers to "dig" the story further on their own. Many of the news channels maintain excellent websites where surfers can watch video, read their reports in text form and investigate to a greater depth what is reported on the channel itself. This is hardly a competitive concern for the channels: It allows them to offer even more service to their viewers.

If you have something to say about a story, you'll find many of them offer interactive chats that are sometimes shown on the screen and "live blogging" where a reporter offers minute to minute coverage of an unfolding event. The news wouldn't be the news without a good deal of time devoted to the weather. If you've got a bit of amateur meteorologist in you, you can follow the weather conditions constantly and in great detail.

In addition to the various venues for weather news, the government maintains excellent sites that offer data in forms that are not simplified for mass consumption. If you're following the effects of the latest big winter storm, it's a much safer endeavor from the comfort of your living room with a satellite broadband connection! You may find your habits changing a bit.
The morning newspaper may be quickly replaced by coffee in front of the laptop while reading your favorite news site. You'll know for certain that the stories are up to the minute and even the second, in some cases that you won't be missing any fresh developments that occurred after press time. While newspapers will always have a special place in most people's hearts, they simply cannot compete with the constant updates that the Internet offers. When you want to "flip" to the sports page, expect to be "wowed".

There's no restriction on column space on the Internet, so if your favorite sport happens to be cricket, fencing or something less popular, expect to find coverage as comprehensive as that enjoyed by football and baseball fans.  Remember to use your satellite connection to stay local, as well. You'll likely find that your favorite local papers and television stations have their own homepages and may even offer their own "feeds" that can keep you up to date!
