Search Engine Marketing: Clear Call to Actions

We have all received some sort of advertising either in the mailbox or in our online advertising in our email inboxes and after review the entire material we are left wondering, “What was the point?”. Remember that individuals go to school for years to learn the ins and outs and dos and don’ts of marketing through every aspect available. A few basic guidelines, however, can ensure that you are on track and that your customer is getting the message you are trying to send through e-marketing.

Marketing is important and getting the message across in a clear concise manor is the key. Many businesses create wonderful, great looking online marketing material, but the consumer can sometimes be left wondering what the point of contact was actually about.

Brand awareness is important, but the products and services offered should be prominent. We are always proud of our logo, colours, and tag line. While, brand awareness is extremely important, sending out materials repeatedly on brand awareness does no good. Your material needs to focus on a message. If you are having an upcoming sale, a special promotion, or new product addition, make sure that is the focus of you material.

Your e-marketing material needs to state two things very clearly. First, what is the message and second, what is the next step. You customer needs to see that starting next month the new service will be introduced to your line of services and secondly, they can visit your site for additional details, and reserve their appointment with you.

Your advertisement should state clearly what to do next. So you have introduced a great new line of services, what next? Prompt the customer to take the next step. You can create a Purl (personalised url) for them to visit so that you can track each customer that takes that next step and follow up. Whatever the next step is, make it prominent, clear, and easy.

The last thing you want to happen is for your customer to view your material, fall in love with the idea of buying, and not know how to. Once they have received their advertisement that is well stated, it should lead them online where they will be exposed to additional online marketing material. You can instruct customers to search particular key words that will increase your Search Engine marketing.

Use your web hosting services to measure key words and phrases, onsite searches and track where your customers are coming from. This information can be used to increase your Search Engine marketing. Marketing materials are only good if you know what does and doesn’t work. The only way to know that is to track your efforts. Fortunately a little research online and within your own sites tracking should provide the information you need to launch your next form of online advertising. As with any form of marketing and business advertising practices, be sensible, do your research, be thorough, and measure your results.
