Following the massive success of The Secret There has been a whole new genre of personal success films. Although Know for Yourself does fit into that genre it brings self improvement resources to the next level. It focuses more on personal responsibility, going after whatever you have always wanted to have, and making lasting changes and results. The one issue I have continually found with most Law of Attraction resources is they show people why, but fail to show people how to permanently change their thoughts. People go away feeling that all they have to do is think positively and focus on what they want. The films make the viewers feel positive and motivated while they are watching. This can last for a few hours or for a number of days until situations come up that put the person back into their old way of thinking. These principals only work if used consistently, if you can create a real shift in your habitual thoughts. I always felt that self improvement films would never do more than motivate and inspire, that the truly powerful self improvement resources would continue to be books and courses. However Know for Yourself actually did manage to take a fresh direction. The film is a blend between individual success stories from around the world, and a roundtable mastermind amongst a group of self made millionaires. This format is very successful since viewers respond to stories, they both motivate them and help them understand the possibilities. Nevertheless the motivation can diminish. For me the true quality in this film was in the roundtable mastermind. Powerful leaders discuss what it really takes to create change in your life, and they also set a higher standard for life. They lay out a path to success and discuss the changes that people need to be willing to make to achieve their dreams, but they also made it clear that to get true personal power you should use your influence for good in the world. You have to be the one to hold yourself to a very high standard. The title of the movie seemed odd to me at first, but I now feel that it was a very apt title. Know for Yourself is really about moving away from the herd, making up your own mind and not just following the beliefs and ideas of the masses. The only thing that didn't work so well for me was the layout of the mastermind part. I felt some of the better points got lost in the discussion. I loved the chance to eavesdrop on a millionaire mastermind, but I did find that I missed a few words and points here and there because the discussion was not directed at the screen. It was only after I watched the film a second time that I picked up on some of the really powerful suggestions they were making. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone who is ready to achieve their dream. If you only want to be motivated I would not suggest that you watch this film, because it does require you to get off your bum and hold yourself to a higher standard of living. This DVD is a fantastic resource for people who are interested in becoming an entrepreneur and want a formula for success. It’s a must for any budding entrepreneur who finds themselves floundering a bit. But prepare to hold yourself to a higher standard of thought and of life!
