Sharp Vacuums - Which Ones Right For You?



No one would argue that there is a shortage of vacuum options. In fact there are more vacuums on the market today than any other time in history and that's good for the consumer. One of our favorite choices are the Sharp vacuums.

You get plenty of choices in both canister and upright models. You get to choose from a variety of features, motor sizes, and price ranges. But all those choices mean it won't be long before you are pulling your hair out trying to figure out which ones right for you.

1. What's your mix?You need to start by determining what your mix is. What percentage of carpet do you have and what percentage of rug? If you have more rug than carpet go with an upright but make sure all the attachments you need are included. Mostly carpet go with a canister.

2. Adjust itYou'll also want to make sure you can adjust the height of the vacuum for the various carpet heights in your home as well as your flooring.

3. No MetalIf you have lots of flooring you should try to avoid metal rollers as they can scratch your floors. Instead look for a Teflon roller which will stand up but will not mark.

4. Suck it upMake certain that the vacuum you choose has ample suction power. The deeper the pile the more suction you'll need. That said you don't have to pay too much because you bought too much horsepower.

5. HEPA it upA HEPA filter is sealed unit that picks up more than 99% of the particles in the air. Make sure it is a true HEPA filter - it will have a serial number on the filter. HEPA's are excellent for anyone who has allergies, asthma, or respiratory problems.

6. Avoid that dustIf keeping dust to a minimum is important to you go for a bagless model. Bags allow fine particles to escape which are returned into the air.

7. Take it apartSure almost all vacuums come with a bunch of attachments but you might be surprised to find out that many are very difficult to attach and remove so always try before you buy.

8. Adjust itYour vacuum should have an adjustable height so that it can easily accommodate different rug heights as well as your floor.
