Single, and staying that way!

Many married friends of 30+ single women view not having a  better half as a problem that requires a drastic solution. Some would think it inconceivable that a single 35 year old women could feel content about being unattached.

That is whats great about having close friends, they care about how you are getting on with life. Kathryn Haines who is a journalist from the Macarthur Daily was kind enough to share her situation with us regarding this sticky subject. Oh, and you guest it, she's a 35 year old single women and living in Melbourne's inner city.

"I'm just fine with it - do I have this expression on my face as if to suppose I'm not okay with being single? and yes Ive tried dating sites in fact Ive dated men online and offline.
I sometimes wonder if my friends believe that I am trailing the times. Yes sure I still act like I'm in my 20 occasionally and I still  look forward to going out and entertaining myself instead of the usual Friday night dinner parties or BBQ  with kids being the main conversation of the day. Most of my friends have kids and I love them to bits. I do want kids before I'm 40, but I'm certainly not going to go out and get knocked up just to meet a deadline, I have enough deadlines at work"

Statistics extracted from the Australian Bureau claim that 35% of the entire adult Australian population are single, amounting to nearly 6 million singles. Single households in Australia are also on the rise and are estimated to reach 3.9 million single households by 2025.

This trend is not isolated to Australia by any means. The top 40 wealthiest nations reported a combined 200 million single households and growing at a rate of 12% annually.  Based on these figures and if this rate of growth continues, many adult lives will be spent alone either as single parents or childless, with single life being the majority as apposed to time spent in relationships.

We again asked Kathryn, our featured single, whom would definitely be considered by many as being  innovative, flourishing and a well educated women, if she determines that a reason for remaining single into her 30s is attributed to not attracting the right man after all this time?  "I've thought about it many times, and have had relationships where something long term was on offer, but in my heart I just don't want that life at the moment and if I never feel ready, then yes Ill end up by myself. I'm not going to force the situation and end up miserable and trapped like so many married couples these days, but in a perfect world, sure Id love a perfect husband and a perfect life"

We all hold predestined concerns about maturing, and once you are in your 30's, this issue can slowly become something we start to dwell on. We kind of feel like ageing is inevitable and your unquestionably not a kid any longer. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't  have fun and live your life to it's potential no matter whether you are single or attached.
