Skin Tags – Easy And Effective Treatments

Skin tags are annoying even if they are not a real danger for your health, so if you suffer from them, not once you may have considered to get rid of them. Surgery is a good solution, but the operation is not covered by the insurance as it is considered a cosmetic problem and not one of life and death. If you are a little tight or you do not want to pay a lot for such a procedure, try one of these methods.

You can be your own surgeon when it comes to skin tags. This means that you can cut them off, but there are some instructions you must follow when you do that. As some blood may pour when you do it, there is some risk of infection so the rule of thumb is to use new implements and to sterilize them before cutting off the skin tags.

In order to sterilize your tools, you can use a sanitizer that you also use for yourself in other circumstances or you can hold them in fire for a little time. Let them cool after that, then use them. Scissors can be used, but nail clippers are even easier to use. Put them near the healthy skin and simply snip the off. It is not as painful as it seems, but some bleeding may occur, so you need some cotton balls or bandages near to stop it.

Small tags can be removed through the freezing method. Doctors also use this method for removing skin tags, so you can do it too. There are products that can be used, as they may be purchased from the local grocery store. Read the instructions and then apply them. It is not very hard to do it, but keep in mind that these products are not quite similar with those used by doctors, so their efficiency is low. But they work just well for small skin tags.

Another treatment against skin tags you may apply in the comfort of your own home is to strangulate the skin tag, by tying it up with a string, at its base. This helps cutting down the alimentation with blood. The logic is simple. The skin tag needs blood to exist, so if you eliminate its source, than the success is yours.

You must use very strong ties when you use this procedure. After you succeeded carefully tying the skin tag at its base, you must make a knot and keep the tie for several days. You will see how, without the blood, the skin tag dies and it simply falls off your skin. This is considered one of the safest home removal options.

Many skin tags can be removed using one of the methods described above. But there are cases when it is imperative that you must see the doctor. If you notice a significant change of color or dimension in your skin tag, this can be a sign of disease, so go see the doctor to find out what is going on. When you try to remove the tag and something goes wrong, like the tag refuses to come off, also a visit to the doctor is advisable.
