Small Waist - Ways to Whittle Your Middle
|
Often people will go straight to exercise to work on getting a small waist. Exercise is good for a number of reasons. It helps burn calories and tone muscles. Exercise is not, however, the only way to whittle your waist. In fact, if you relied on exercise alone, it is doubtful that you would see any satisfying results. Getting a smaller waist starts with the diet. You can do 300 sit-ups a day to strengthen your stomach muscles, but if you are eating a lot of saturated fat and sugar, nobody would be able to tell. There would be too much fat around the muscles. Switching to a diet that is high in fiber and includes lean meats, good fats like olive oil and fish oil, and lots of fruits and vegetables will result in the small waist that you are looking for. Once you realize the importance of a good diet and have embarked on that path, then your exercises will really start to pay off. Sit-ups are the standard exercise for strengthening the stomach muscles, but some people are starting to use methods that they feel are more effective. Sit-ups target the stomach muscles in front, but there are other muscles involved in going for a small waist. Variations of sit-ups where you twist from one side to the other work the waist well, as do side-bending exercises and even leg lifts if done in a certain way. Frankly, the best way to work on decreasing your waist size is to do an overall muscle strengthening program. You may not see results immediately when you are working hard for a small waist, but you will feel them fairly quickly. By eating a healthy, low-fat diet, you will start to feel more energetic and you will want to do more. You will feel stronger through your exercises, too. After a while you will start to see an obvious difference, and this should inspire you to keep going until your waist finally looks the way you want it to.
