The reality is that stuttering in child is completely natural. As the baby's young brain is getting fed with more information every day he becomes more confident of himself and of his skills. However, there are times when the child is simply wanting too much, producing a block in his aready overloaded brain .

In the development of child's speech skills, he will frequently challenge himself in trying new sentences or words. As his brain is not always ready to supply these words instantaneously, his speechlanguage starts to hamper as the child is searching for words. More precisely said, the brain has issues synchronizing with the muscles and nerves that take care of speech. This type of stuttering is totally normal and will often be gone as the kid grows.

When stuttering in toddlers could be a issue :

Not all stammering patterns disappear in time. If you notice any of the following behaviour or speech patterns in a baby, it might be an indication of possible speech problem that needs stuttering treatment :

* disproportionate prolongation of sounds ('ccccccan I get wwwwwater?' ).
* Syllabile repetition ('can I haveget wa-wa-wa-water?' ).
* Substitution of a feeble vowel for a more robust one in syllable repetitions ('can I have wuh-wuh-wuh-water?' )
* indicators of intense struggle and stress when your kid is attempting to talk.
* Avoidance of speaking because of the fear of stuttering.
* Rising pitch and/or noisiness as the child 'hangs' on a word or syllable.

Noticing these traits doesn't necessarily imply your child will stutter forever. Many cases of stammer resolve themselves in time.

If your child begins stuttering, don't forget to always keep levels of stress low. Talk to your kid in a tranquil demeanour and create an atmosphere of smooth, calm conversation. Your child should keep exercising speaking in a entertaining way : making up rhymes, singing songs and playing speech concerning games. Make sure you give them your total attention and transmit to them that you're {listening|paying attention| to what your kid has to assert, allowing them to express their thoughts.

What not to do :

- Never/ever finish a stutterer's phrases, even when you know what she is about to speak.
- Don't try to force your youngster to stop stuttering by asking her or him to copy the sentence'without stuttering this time'. This will not work, is shaming and will seriously
affect self-esteem. For much the same reason, you have to make sure you never appear disappointed or annoyed by the stuttering.
