Stainless Steel Electropolishing

There are many different ways in which stainless can be used but stainless steel electropolishing has certainly grown in popularity.

Electropolishing is a process that smoothes the microscopic surface of a metal object. Ions are removed one by one from the surface of the object being polished.

The object being electroplated is dunked in an electrolyte which is then fed an electrical current. The polarized surface is gassed and the surface is saturated with the dissolved metal which becomes adhered to the object.

The smooth surface is the primary advantage to using this process. The thickness of the electroplating can vary from .00001 to .0025 of an inch depending on the exact process.

Your item will look great. There will be no fine directional lines - you know the ones that are caused by using abrasive polishes. It will glimmer and shine with excellent clarity and it will be bright and smooth.

They'll be less friction on the surface and the strength of the unit is not weakened. In fact the original integrity is not affected at all. It also provides future protection from corrosion.

And it doesn't get easier than this to clean. In fact cleaning time is reduced by as much as half. Stainless is an excellent finish that wears well and it improves sterilization and it is much more hygienic.

It also removes cold worked metal oxides and decarburizes metals. It will simultaneously deburr as it polishes. And the sharp edges are removed and the finish is quite literally as smooth as silk.

Flaws are instantly undetectable and infact it is the most effective method covering flaws on an object. Electroplating will magnetize parts by 20% and it will also allow the micromachining of metal surfaces.

Stainless steel electropolishing is a great choice for several objects and it is widely used in both commercial and residential situations. And almost anything you can imagine can be done.

Now getting an object electropolished might not be as easy as walking into a local store however there are plenty of sites online offering such services. It may require you to ship your object but certainly worth the time and additional cost.

Stainless steel electropolishing is certainly worth considering if you have an object that needs a new face.
