Stainless Steel Lug Nuts
|
Chrome plate lug nuts look fine when you first put them on but the problem is they don't stand up and it won't be long before they look crappy. Heck the first time you tighten them the chrome plating is going to crack and the rust will be shortly behind that. You want to buy high quality wheel nuts to compliment your high quality alloy wheels. That's why you need stainless nuts. They are rust and corrosion resistant. So even thought hey cost a little more they are worth every penny. 316 stainless is commonly used because it is the brightest and shiniest of all grades and it is even more resistant to salt. 316 is often called the marine grade because of this quality. Some companies reverse engineer which means the accuracy will be within two microns which means they are going to fit as well as the originals. Chromium, molybdenum, and nickel are all found in 316 grade stainless and these are the elements that give it such good corrosive prevention qualities. These are also the two elements that give the stainless the shiny appearance. 302 and 304 stainless have a duller finish because they have much lower concentrations of these elements. Some manufacturers use 302 grade but the problem is it is not very shiny so doesn't have the same aesthetic appeal. The lug nuts are forged which makes them three times stronger than the original nuts. The thread I very carefully cut prior to the dome and cone ends being machined. The nuts are polished with a 0.5 micron finish which makes them have that mirror look. You'll find they are available at your local automotive stores but the biggest problem is they generally don't stock a wide selection. By shopping online you open yourself up to more options and it's easier to find the best pricing around. If you are ready to make an impressive statement and stand out from the crowd it's time to add your stainless steel lug nuts. They are worth every penny extra. Are you ready?
