Stainless Steel Pipe Shelving - Getting Creative
|
One great way to take advantage of pipe shelving made of stainless steel is to make rolling shelves for your garage. These are like what you see in factories where you can roll products along a line. With rolling stainless steel pipe shelving in your garage, you could store boxes or other things on it, and when you want to take a box or something else down, you could actually roll it to you instead of sliding it to you. If you really want to get creative, you could even construct two parallel rolling shelves and include a slight incline ramp on the one that is closest to you. In this way, you could store boxes on both shelves, but when you want a certain box you could push others to the back shelf, and roll the box you want down the incline where you could easily pick it up from a table. You could get plans for making rolling shelves from a hardware store, or perhaps even more easily from the Internet. Stainless steel pipe shelving doesn't have to be just for the garage. Using wood and stainless steel pipe together, you could build a unique entertainment center, a coffee table, or perhaps shelves for holding knick knacks or other items. Shelves could be constructed so that the shelf tables are made of wood and the stainless steel pipes are what hold the shelves up, or you could have the stainless steel pipe be the shelf tables and the wood could hold up the pipe. It is a good idea to draw some plans before you start building so you can get some idea of what type of finished product that you want. After you've drawn your plans, it is also a good idea to write down everything you need as far as tools and hardware, so you can be sure to have everything there and ready before you begin building. It can be very frustrating to start building and then realize that you have to stop everything to go get materials that you don't have. Always buy more of each of your materials than you think you need. Many times materials can be damaged or plans can change, so having extra of everything on hand can save you a lot of time and trouble. Whatever materials you don't use can be stored for more projects later on, or for repairs if they are needed at a future time.
