While many people like to complain about a number of present day laws, many are unaware of the rather strange laws that have been passed over time, that are still in affect but largely ignored. Across the United States, there are laws that make people wonder what the lawmakers at the time were thinking, and having them crying with laughter.

While these strange laws vary from state to state, and are hardly ever taken seriously in this day and age, some are so amusing that it's hard to pass up sharing them. Below is just a small sampling of these strange laws on the books in this country.

In Alabama, it is illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket. You should also not drive blindfolded, as this is an illegal act that could cause your arrest.

In California, farmers and those raising animals should make sure to keep them in check, since it is illegal for the animal to mate publicly if they are within 1,500 feet from a church, school, or tavern.

Floridians should be careful when visiting the beauty salon, as a woman can be fined if she falls asleep underneath a hair dryer. The salon owner should be diligent as well, as she or he can also be fined should this occur.

In Iowa, men should keep their faces shaved, since it is illegal for a man to kiss a woman in public if he has a mustache.

Those with a snoring problem should be careful in Massachusetts, as it is strictly prohibited to snore unless you have all of your windows not only closed, but locked as well.

In New Jersey, men should watch combining certain hobbies, as it is illegal for a man to knit during the fishing season.

Texas beer drinkers need to be mindful of their drinking habits, as it is illegal for them to take more than three sips of their beer at one time if they are standing. They also cannot shoot buffalo if they are on the second story of their hotel.

These are just a handful of the many strange and weird laws that can be found throughout the United States. Though many of these laws are no longer taken seriously, they are still actual laws that are in place and valid for the citizens of the state.
