Styling Short Hair - A Number of Choices
|
If you have naturally straight hair and a short, layered cut, you can try curling your hair for a whole different look. The different layers can make styling short hair into curls even better, since it can make for a more natural curly look. Your curls can be shorter but softer on top, but longer and a little tighter on the bottom. You could even do it the other way around and make the top curls tighter and the longer bottom curls softer. Styling short hair into curls when it is mostly the same length all over can produce a whole new look. For this type of short hair, softer wavy curls can be a great look. If you want to go a little wild when styling short hair, you want to bring in the mousse or the gel. After washing your hair, wait until it is still slightly damp and then apply some mousse or gel, lifting it up and out as you apply. Let the hair dry naturally this way and you will have hair that looks a little more teased and puffy. Tame it carefully where you want it tamed but be sure to not flatten it out. If you want to go in the other direction you can apply a gel or mousse to dry hair and slick it back away from the forehead, creating a sleek look. Be sure to use mousse or gel that won't dry out your hair but will leave it looking shiny but not greasy. One option for styling short hair is to use temporary hair extensions. Buy some good quality clip-on extensions and have fun with them! Add some long bangs or longer hair in the back. You can also try highlighting certain parts of your short hair for a dramatic new look. Parting your hair in the middle if you are used to parting it on the side can really change your look, or vice versa. When you are deciding on different looks for your short hair, the trick is to not go overboard right from the start. Start with subtle changes and then graduate to more drastic styles as you feel comfortable doing so. About The Author: Drew enjoys researching and writing about subjects of interest in his sparetime.
