Gossip Girl is a television series on the CW network, but it originally began as a series of novels. These novels were written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Cecily was born to a very wealthy family in Connecticut, but she did a lot of her growing up in Manhattan. She attended the Nightingale Bamford School in the Upper East Side. This was a very prestigious all girls school in a very elite area of New York City. This school is where she got the idea for the entire Gossip Girl series, but decided to use the fictitious name The Constance Billard School for Girls. After graduating from the elite all girls high school, Cecily went on to Colby College. After a while of traveling around, Cecily got a job at Alloy Entertainment, which was a book packaging firm. This was where she discovered her inspiration to write the Gossip Girl book series. Gossip Girl, both the book series and the television show offer a look into the eyes of a teenager in this generation and the outcome is always exciting. The teens deal with issues surrounding, drugs, drinking, sex exploration and some very twisted friendships. Gossip Girl was adapted for television in 2007 and was released to rave reviews across the country. Josh Schwartz is the producer of the show so it is not hard to see why it is such a success. He also produced another hit on the CW network called The O.C. It was an easy thing to adapt to television because there were already so many good storylines from the book series. Some people who were big fans of the book series were disappointed by the television show, but the author, Cecily was extremely pleased with how it turned out. The first season of the show came to an end in May of 2008 and many people were sad to see it end. The network announced that it has been renewed for another season and will be back on in September. The show attracts viewers of all ages because it deals with such complex storylines and also follows the lives of some of the parents as well. Many episodes prove to us that parents can lead just as messed up lives as their children. Fans of the show do not have to wait long to see their favorite characters though because Gossip Girl on DVD is coming very soon. Gossip Girl on DVD is guaranteed to remind us why we all fell in love with it the first time.
