The market of Mini DV recorders is split mainly between large companies like Sony, Panasonic and JVC. They produce different models that vary in features, size and prices. Each customer can choose the best solution for his or her needs. Features offered include editing facilities, conversions and different qualities of recording and, of course, different sizes. Prices for Mini DV recorders vary, but they all start around $2000. When you go to buy such a piece of equipment you must choose a model that fits with other recording or playing systems that you have. JVC produces many models of Mini DV recorders. If you want a player that is also a recorder, choose JVC BR DV 600 U. Films can be edited through any system, the Mini DV, the DVD or Super VHS. You are also allowed to make the conversion from analog signal to digital signal. The model mentioned above has many qualities. The recorded image is clear and sharp, as well as the sound. Another great feature of this equipment is that it can be upgraded to more advanced models if you want to. You can buy this product at prices from $2000 to $4000, depending on which seller you choose. Sony also developed a player-recorder, named DSR 45 VCR. One of its interesting characteristics is that it records and plays not only Mini DV, but DVCAM cassettes, too. You cannot edit a film with this model, though. It costs approximately $4000, but you can find a cheaper one, searching online, on eBay or online stores. The most popular model of Mini DV recorder made by Panasonic is AG DV IDCE. Its popularity is due to its size and weigh, as it is light and compact. You can leave this equipment over night to record anything you want. The model has a small LCD monitor, about 4 in length, but this allows you to carry it with you. When you decide to buy a Mini DV recorder, you must keep in mind what features are you most interested in. Many Mini DV recorders are also players, but not every model has the same performances as a recorder and as a player. Some may be good recorders, but poor players, as well as the other way around.
