The Changes You Need To Make To Lose Weight
|
Weight gain doesn't just happen overnight, and can take years of poor habits to get to the point where it bothers you enough for you to take action and do something about it. The problem is though; if it took 10 years to accumulate the excess weight it is not going to come off quickly, not in a month, 3 months or even 6 months. The solution lies here for you. If it has taken a certain lifestyle to gain this weight it is going to take a different lifestyle to reverse the situation and take it back off. The answer is in the change in your lifestyle that will lead you to success, not a quick fix diet. Having a strong, lean, firm, trim body should be the result of how you live every single day and it will never happen in a hurry but with small steps over a period of time. If you fix the habits that have caused the weight gain, the weight will simply come off automatically. Think 12 months at least to make these changes. By the end of this time you will have seen significant increases in your strength, and you will have a healthier metabolism which will be steadily burning off that excess body fat. Start with a proper exercise program that contains strength training exercise. This is the only way to permanently raise your metabolic rate so you burn more calories when you are resting and when you are exercising. Just 2-3 sessions each week is all that is needed if your program is set up properly and you do it properly at the right level of intensity (degree of difficulty). Just winging it alone hoping that it will be good enough is unlikely to get you the results you desire. Forget everything you have ever heard about long, slow repetitive activity such as walking, jogging or cycling being part of an effective fat loss program. We now know that this type of activity is fine as part of an active lifestyle but is not intense enough to rebuild, tone and firm muscle tissue which is the mechanism that drives your metabolism. The other part of the fat loss puzzle of course is your eating plan. Try this simple yet very effective way of eating that will get you lean and trim over a period of time. Eat 5-7 small meals, one every 2-3 hours throughout the day. Each meal should have 20 grams of protein as its center piece then you can add raw and cooked vegetables. The secret to making this work is to prepare your meals the day before and take them with you wherever you go so you will not be forced into eating something that will not help you reach your weight loss goals. Spend your time focusing on what you should be eating and you will find you don't have time to worry about what you shouldn't be eating. Getting into better shape is never a temporary fix like going on/off diets and yo yo exercise binges. It is the small permanent changes that will get you to your goal and will be something you become not just something you 'try' or 'do' Weight loss is a process not a one time event. Change your thinking about this and you will be well on the way to weight loss success.
