Engraving is made up of variety of lines that are etched into a very hard surface called the engraving. It is then transferred to the new surface which might be a print or a newspaper illustration. If you are at all an antique buff then you most likely have seen the beautiful antique etchings that date back around a century. In fact these old pieces have become worth a fair penny. Of course today we use engravings for a variety of different types of art work all producing stunningly beautiful results. Lithographs are a modern example of just that. It is a process that will make prints off the original piece. There are different types of engraving that use different types of plates and they are then processed in Florida. Although there is no reason why this method could not be used still today more modern processes have taken over for the most part. Historically engraving is really quite interesting to follow. Start way back in the day when it all began and follow it through to modern day. Follow the chain and get to understand how it all began. Art etchings and engravings are a great way to pass on the beautiful art works of the past allowing them to devote their time to more topics. Engraving is used for a lot more than art work.
