The Ultimate Guide To Acne- Vitamin For Acne

Among other treatment methods for acne there are a few approaches who are recognized by both the alternative and traditional medicine. Vitamin for acne is one of them. This area of medicine has been explored to great lengths by both but with some very different reasons. The pharmaceutical companies saw the benefit of creating several new products like supplements, while alternative medicine saw vitamins as a way of promoting healthy food. Although the reasons vary such drastically the results were pretty much the same.

In this chapter I will not talk about vitamin for acne alone, I will also cover the subject of minerals and other similar organic substances found to be helpful in treating the annoying acne.

Niacinamide is the first vitamin for acne to enter the arena. Although this is not strictly a vitamin, the results shown from the external use of this substance have proven to be quite dramatic. Niacinamide is a derivative from vitamin B3 or niacin. In commerce you can get these lotions with about 4% density and they typically come in gel form. To take effect this method requires at least two months of treatment. The vegetarian list of fruits and vegetables containing vitamin B3 is also quite extensive: Passion fruit, grape, grapefruit, guava, parsley, potato, peach, strawberry, kale, beansprout, carrot, cauliflower and red pepper are all rich in vitamin B3. Attention though, there is absolutely no reason to believe that ingestion of this vitamin has similar curing effects. Further still no matter how you use these fruits and vegetables remember that vitamins in the B complex are all very unstable at high temperatures, so for a real kick you must use them raw. If using these plants to create a mask make sure that they actually contain vitamin B3 and not tryptophan. Tryptophan is a substance which your body is able to transform into the fabled B3 vitamin, your skin though doesn't have these abilities. Of course you could simply skip all the vegetarian part and buy a lotion just to keep things simple. It is a matter of choice in the end.

Another less inspired approach to use vitamin for acne is the usage of large quantities of vitamin A. A study showed that significant improvements have been made. I dare to say that this approach is ineffective, because it does not provide long term reliability and besides vitamin A in large quantities can have some really nasty side effects and is thus considered toxic. Alternative medicine took these findings and proclaimed vitamin A as the new wonder drug. In normal quantities though vitamin A has not been found to have measurable effects although it is very likely that it helps acne conditions reduce in severity. To have a nice checklist at hand here are the fruits and vegetables with a high content of vitamin A: apricots, mango, melon (cantaloup), nectarine, orange, peach, tangerine, watercress, parsley, sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, kale, lettuce and spinach. Also vitamin A is found in a lot of diary products and meat products such as liver. There can really be no harm in having a balanced diet and perhaps you should reevaluate yours to check if it contains the right amounts of vitamins and minerals.

Panthotenic acid or vitamin B5 has also been used with success in combating acne. Unfortunately though, to perceive a measurable effect the amounts ingested must be at quite high levels at least in the initial stages. The typical role of this vitamin is to make energy available to the body. The reason for the effectiveness of this vitamin in treating acne is not yet fully understood. Although this vitamin can be found quite easily in meat products and milk you should be aware that the B vitamins are subjected to degradation when exposed to extreme heat, perhaps the best alternatives are fruits and vegetables with the occasional medical supplement. Vitamin B5 can mostly be found in the following fruits and vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, celery, sweet potato, broad beans, chick peas, watermelon, blackberry, lemon, raspberry and strawberry. Be aware though that healing will take some time and the initial dosages will require 10 grams per day, a huge amount. Only medical supplements can offer such a high amount, unless of course you like eating about two hundred kilos of strawberries per day, after two months the dosage can be reduced to one tenth, but ten kilos of strawberries still don't look very appetizing, but maybe that's just me.

Vitamin B6 is another vitamin from the B complex that shows some promise especially for women experiencing acne during their menstrual cycle. The results though are confusing. A hefty percent of the women involved in the study have seen some improvement, while a minority saw an aggravating effect. The controversy lies in the fact that not the vitamin may be to blame, but rather the supplements themselves are to blame for the aggravating effect. A certainty remains, a dosage of around 100 mg per day reduces the oiliness of the skin and you have about a 75% chance that you will get rid of acne this way. Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine can be found in a lot of natural sources including meat and fish and a lot of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Perhaps this is one of the reasons for which the Asian culture may look so acne free.

Among minerals zinc is by far the best choice in regards to acne treatment with an efficiency close to the ones of the antibiotics. Some caution is advised though as long term zinc consumption provokes a deficiency in copper. Taking some copper supplement solves this issue.
