Things to Talk About - Creating Conversation
|
There are plenty of things to talk about that can make it interesting. You need to find a good balance though as you don't want to give the impression that you are just being nosy. You also don't want the other party to feel like they are in some type of interview. Ask questions that are non threatening such as what they think about the event you are at. This is a great way to talk about something you both have in common. Try to steer clear of issues that can be controversial though when you are looking for things to talk about. The last thing you want to do is get yourself into a heated debate with someone over politics or the environment. Since we never know what the trigger points are with people that we don't know you don't want to assume it is okay to go in that direction with them. If you know the person is there with someone that you know, such as the date of one of your friends you can bring up things about that person. That is a great way for you to both have something in common. You can also ask them about themselves such as where they are from and if they are having a good time. They will appreciate that you are taking a sincere interest in getting to know them. When you have an idea of how to come up with things to talk about you won't be intimidated in social situations. You will have the control to strike up a decent conversation with just about anyone. That may be the only time you see them or it could be the start of a great friendship that will form. You will notice that people tend to gravitate towards those that know how to create things to take about though. That can help you to keep other people at the event comfortable and relaxed enough to enjoy it as well. The key is to relax when you are talking to people so that they can relax as well. If you appear to be struggling to come up with things to talk about they are going to make excuses to go do something else. If you really want to mingle with new people then have some basic ideas of what to engage in conversation about. About The Author: Kurtis Hoeck is new write for Articleclick.
