Thomas Air Compressors

There are four types of compressors - the piston type compressor, the single stage compressor, two stage compressors, compact air compressors. 1. Piston Type Compressor - has a tank where the compressed air is stored. When the tank reaches the correct level the motor shuts off. As the air is drained from the tank the pressure drops off and the motor kicks back in and recharges the tank. You can adjust the pressure according to your needs.2. Single Stage Compressor - has a single piston that compresses the air and then stores it in the storage tank. You find this style in the lighter compressors that have a rating of 150 pounds PSI or less. This is an adequate size for home use.3. Two Stage Compressor - has two pistons rather than a single piston. The first piston compresses air then it is pushed through a check valve to a second piston which compresses the air some more before it is finally sent to the tank. This system is more common on larger industrial compressors.4. Compact Air Compressor - are the small and light weight compressors so often found in the home. There are no storage tanks which means they run continuously to supply the air that the tools need. It will run a glue gun, caulking gun, and even a smaller paint gun. It's also excellent for inflating tires and all those great water toys. So to sum it up, if you are buying for home use either a compact compressor or a single stage compressor are the most popular. Then you just need to decide what horsepower rating you want and what type of power you want. Compressor horsepower usually range from 1.5 to about 7 hp. Industrial applications will require units that are more hp and of course they are readily available. You can choose between electric or gas units. Electric units are the most common. If you are in an area where electricity isn't available gas compressors are always an option. Remember when using a gas compressor make sure that the room is well ventilate. A Thomas air compressor will provide you with quality performance. It's durable and will last forever. About The Author: Adam works as a air compressor technician for over 7 years.
