Choosing your bridesmaid's shoes for your wedding often comes down to doing one of two things. You can either choose the pair of your own liking or take the advice of your bridesmaids.
A consideration you need to make before choosing the shoes is the bridal party's dresses. Will you be having dresses that are shorter or more of a full-length? Will the bridal party's shoes be visible when walking down the aisle or when dancing at the reception?
Decision: Bridesmaids
If the dresses are full-length, some brides give their bridesmaids the option of wearing whatever shoe they want. Reason being is because nobody will actually even be able to see the shoes. Likewise, even if the bridesmaid's dresses are shorter, the bride may be receptive to bridesmaid's selecting their own shoes. As long as the shoes have style and match the dresses, some brides have the girls express their creativity with picking their own shoes to wear.
Opting To Have The Bride Decide
On the other hand, sometimes the decision of what shoes the bridal party will wear is made by the bride herself. This decision is usually made because the bride wishes the bridal party to all match and be uniform, or the bride wanting the photographer to take beautiful shots of everyone's shoes.
Things To Consider
Some stories do not have a happy ending when allowing the girls make the decision. How about the girl that chooses a color that does not match her dress, or the one who has the great idea of wearing flops down the aisle in her shorter dress to your formal wedding, and let's not forget the bridesmaid with adidas sneakers and white socks because she wanted to be comfortable.
On the flip-side, if a bride chooses the bridesmaid's shoes, there may still be ramifications like: finding many pairs of the same shoe in different sizes and same color can be a challenge, the possibility of your bridesmaids getting upset for not allowing them to make the decision, or causing your bridesmaids agony over uncomfortable shoe height.
In the end, the final decision is yours to make. No one knows your bridesmaids like you so you probably already know what will make them most comfortable, and regardless, keep in mind that your bridesmaids are always there to support you and your fiancé on your wedding day.
