The curiosity that triggered your human instinct to want to know more should in the same way drive you when checking out qualifications of an aspirant of a job position in your company.  Just like the comfort you seek from a friend that becomes a part of your life, the common denominator of knowing about an employee and a friend is the trust that you will invest when he or she becomes a part of your business or company.  More than that, the person that you will hire will not only be a part of it, but will be a common factor on your company's performance and progress.  Doing a thorough background check will not only give you a view of his character and attitude, it will also provide you enough information as to what he or she can offer.  Most of the times, there are stuffs not written on personal resumes and certificates that you should know about.  Obviously, negative traits won't be mentioned in their about me essays and it's not always an open topic you can talk about.

A few taps on a person's past shouldn't be a big deal especially if there's really nothing to hide.  One shouldn't fear a request for a background check unless of course there's something there that shouldn't be brought up.  It should be remembered that background checks that are becoming a requirement in most companies and businesses are not always meant for the benefit of the employers alone.  The information within an outstanding background check result could actually help boost up someone's credentials and qualities giving you more edge on the job.  Thus security is given to both parties involved.
