Toshiba began to carry out a recall AC adapter

After the last Toshiba battery recalling incident, recently Toshiba  began to carry out a recall AC adapter. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Toshiba America Consumer Products Company announced that with the Toshiba SD-P1600 Portable DVD player sales with the need for a recall of AC adapter. It is learned that the affected models from January 2005 to April 2006 between the sales price of about 200-230 U.S. dollars between the SD-P1600.

Although things have been relatively quiet since Toshiba's last battery recall, the company has issued yet another massive recall due to overheating risks, this time for its portable DVD players AC power adapters. According to a statement released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, around 142,000 AC adapter units have been recalled.

The company decided to issue the recall after two reports of minor damages to the bottom of the DVD caused by overheating adapters. The DVD player in question is model number SD-P1600 with AC adapter model ADPV16, which was manufactured in China and sold in the US between January 2005 and April 2006. Consumers using these products were advised to unplug the adapter and contact Toshiba for a replacement.

This past July, Toshiba recalled 10,000 laptop batteries manufactured by Sony, followed by a smaller battery recall in August, affecting about 1,400 units.

Toshiba has received two DVD players at the bottom of the report of minor damage, but has not yet received the report of staff injuries. About 142,000 Toshiba AC Adapters sold with portable DVD players are being withdrawn because they may fail to function, causing the DVD player to overheat, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

The recall applies to the AC adapter sold with the DVD model SD-P1600.

Two associated incidents involving minor damage to the DVD player have been reported to the company.

The DVD players were sold in U.S. stores from January 2005 through April 2006 for between $200 and $230 US.

Consumers should stop using the AC adapter and contact the company for a replacement.
