People searching on the Internet usually type in a query into a search engine, either Google, Yahoo or just ask Jeeves etc etc. This search engine then looks for a match to this query in its data base of web sites on the internet, if it finds your site this is called “natural” or “organic” selection. White Hat requires you to have unique, quality content for the benefit of the users. It also means that your site is easy to read and understand, it is well structured and the content is regularly updated with unique quality content and further more the site is totally Google friendly. Google friendly means that the site is complete with a site map, links to other high ranked pages , links to Blogs , links to Squidoo lenses etc maybe video content and You Tube links. The site therefore conforms to the search engine quality guidelines and you will eventually obtain a high page rank and quality traffic. White Hat is the technique to use for a long term profitable “trouble free” career on the internet. You may ask yourself “Is there an alternative that can be used” well there are techniques that these are really not to be employed if you value your relationship with Google and these are called Black Hat SEO techniques.

Black Hat SEO

What is Black Hat SEO , well simply these are techniques that the search engines consider to be sneaky, sly, underhand or even dishonest at a minimum the techniques break search engine guidelines. Lets get one thing clear it is not illegal to use Black Hat techniques, it is just a way of manipulating the search engines.

Black Hat techniques can also be considered, cunning and clever, they are also interesting and whilst they shouldn’t be employed I think that they should be understood.

So how does Black Hat work, well fundamentally the Black Hat SEO attracts traffic from the search engines by building pages specifically to attract the attention of the search engine and by promoting those pages in a variety of ways to give the pages a false popularity. What will a Black Hat SEO do, well he can generate huge lists of keyword phrases and long tail keywords from one root niche. He will then use automated page builder software that will build multi page websites all fully optimised for those key words. The techniques also ensure that new web sites are listed with high page rank in as little as 24 hours. Now there is a good chance that the Search engine will delete the site but maybe it will be live long enough to make some money.
