Over the past few, treadmills have gained its popularity among healthy people all over the world. Treadmills have designed to give convenience to the most common exercises, walking and running. No matter how the weather is outside, as long as you own a treadmill you can exercise in the comfort of your own house whenever you chose. They also allow users to exercise how they like. Since it is at home, runners may chose to look outside, watch TV, or listen to music. Treadmills make running and walking more enjoyable. The rise popularity in treadmills is most likely because treadmills burn more calories then many other activities. In a 60 minute workout, treadmills have been tested to burn up to 865 calories, compared to a stair machine with 746, rowing machine with 739, and cycle machines which can burn up to 604. Treadmills maximize workouts because of features such as motorized belts, speed settings, heart monitors, and customized incline tracks. There are also preset programs available on treadmills to specially improve speed, or programs to target trouble areas such as the thighs. A treadmill can make walking and running a much more efficient exercise. Running and walking outdoors gives absolutely no control to the runner about incline, or speed. A treadmill has that ability to give customized runs of simulated hills with the help of an incline option. Also running on the treadmill gives users a general idea of their average speed. The treadmill has numerical speed settings which will allow runners to monitor their improvement with a number representing a speed setting. Treadmills can reduce the probability of incurring an injuring from running or walking outdoors. Since treadmills give the convenience of outdoor exercise indoors, users will avoid any injuries which may be incurred outside. Heat strokes and dehydration are examples of preventable conditions. Running on asphalt can lead to sore knees and ankles as the impact on asphalt is too hard to take over a long period of time. Certain treadmills now come with a cushioning system to avoid any soreness caused by hard impacts. The cushioning systems reduce injuries concerning the Achilles tendons, back muscles, knee joints, ankles, and thighs. Treadmills can be a very useful tool for the elderly. Routine exercises are a good way for the elderly to stay healthy. With the convenience of exercising at home, elderly citizens will be more likely to exercise, because if anything were to happen they would be home close to those whom would be able to help. They would also be able to set their own pace and customized trails to workout trouble areas. Specialized equipment such as a heart rate monitor can also be used to monitor the progress of each exercise. When purchasing a treadmill there are several factors to consider. The Frame should be made out of alloy steel which feels much sturdier then aluminum. The motor would be either a AC or DC motor depending on preference. The speed of treadmills should vary from zero to ten mph. A cushioning system should be able to resist impact from the force of your feet. Incline features are also available if desired. There are two types of incline, manual which requires adjusting before usage and automatic which can be adjusted during a workout. A heart rate monitor is a must; it gives a nice quantitative measure of progress. Of course prices should be compared with retail competitors before making your purchase.
