      Using Video Chat

      Choose Public or Private Chat Room to Enter

      There are public chat rooms and private chat rooms. The public rooms allow everyone either register or not to chat there while only registered user can chat in private rooms. The administrator can establish a new private room which has access password, so only the registered users who know the password can get in.

      The chat lobby shows its type, name, room owner, online number and max user number, and the room information could be seen by everyone to choose to enter.

      Basic Setting and User Profile

      By click Setting button on the top of chat window, users can get chat usage details, There are chat setting, sound setting and private setting. Tick the checkbox on the left of each setting and then it will execute.

      Profile:

      In Profile users or guests can manage their personal information, such as nickname, sex and avatar. And the level information in the profile will tell you what level you are in the chat.

      There three levels: admin, registered user and guest.

      Send Chat Message with Fun

      Online Status:

      User can choose the online status when chatting. There are six status : online, away, busy, back soon, in a call, out to lunch.

      '''Avatar Choices''':

      The second icon of the toolbar above the input area is a default avatar image. You may select an avatar to stand for yourself by clicking on the icon and choosing from the nail-up panel.

      Users may change avatar all the time but just one avatar for one time. And the avatar always displays on theahead of the message seen on board. Besides changing avatar here, users may also do it in Profile.

      Add Animation Smiley"

      Select an animation smiley and its code will appear in your input area. And it will change to be smiley again once you send it out. You may add more than one smiley into your message and what you add will be seen together with the text.

      You can also input the code directly instead of select one by one. Below are all of the codes for your reference.

      Send Emotion Animation:

      Besides the smiley you may also send animation when you are chatting. Select one of the animations and click it, then it will be on the screen as a static image. If you or your roommates want to see the whole animation you need to click the "play".

      The Emotion Animation cannot be sent together with message or another one at the same time.



      Send Pre-message:

      There are many pre-messages for selection and sending directly instead of typing every time. Users may define new ones by self and add them by clicking plus sign. Users may also delete any ones appointed to by clicking subtraction sign.

      Tips: you can use %USE% to instead your name when sending messages.

      Change Background:

      There are many backgrounds you may choose to make the chat (both public and private) seem to happen under some special background. And the background may be switched as you like. But what you select to display cannot be seen by others.

      Start Video and Audio Chat

      Now in Chat, users can chat with video functions. If the user would like to play the video, first he or she should ask the admin or the room owner to enable his or her video access. When the admin allows you to play the video, just click the first button left of tool bar at the bottom of the video panel.

      In public chat room, there could be only two videos playing at the same time, but there is no limitation for video number playing simultaneity in private chat. You can have many at the same time.

      The second button is for mute. Click the button swich to mute or sound.

      The third small button is for the video control. There is a window pops up when you click it, and then you can set your camera device here.

      Manage Public Video:

      Room owner has the right to enable his or her own public video and the other users' public videos. Just point to the user name on the user list and left click mouse, then choose 'enable video'.

      Then the user can click the first left button at the bottom of the video panel. Then you and the other users all can see the public video playing in room.

      Private Chat with Video

      If you want to chat with someone in the same room privately, you may click his (or her) nickname in the right roommates list and select private chat, then the private chat window will appear.

      Users also have many funny chat features in private chat. The nickname of the user you chose will show at the statusbar below. How many private chat windows you open, then how many nicknames exist in a line below. The default max number of private chat windows is 5. The administrator can change it to be more.

      Besides those, users also can have video and audio chat with each other. After open the private chat window, click the camera button on the right at the end of the tool bar.

      If you don't want to have a private with someone, just left click the mouse there will pop up a menu. And choose "Refuse this user", then he or she can't have private chat with you.

      And if you want to cancel the function, just point to the user and left click the mouse. There will pop up a menu, choose "accept this user". Then he or she can have private chat with you.

      You also can change the private chat window size freely. Just drag the corner of the window then it is changed.

      Real-time Doodle

      After entering in the chat room, click 'Show paper' then the user can draw on the real-time doodle board. The drawing could be seen by all the users in the same chat room once it happens. Each room has its own drawing board.

      There are four drawing tools: pencil, line, rectangle and oval. When you choose rectangle or oval tool and press "Shift" during drawing, you will get a square or a round. You can also set line color, filling color and line width.

      Cls time notice is set by the administrator, which is at the bottom of the drawing board. When time is up or the doodle data reaches very rate, it will be cleaned automatically.

      Administrator

      Full Administrator Control:

      If you login as an administrator, you will see the administer buttons on the top of the panel.

      By clicking this button, you can enter the general management. You will see another row of buttons for management on the top of the panel. They are: Monitor, Setting, Room, User, News, Account, and Turn back.

      Administrator Panel Settings:

      There are 8 options on the up part of the panel. If you want to enable the option, just select the square in front of it. And if the function has been started, there will be a mark in the square. Re-click to stop the function and the square showed empty.

      In the middle, Time Zone is for Chat time zone setting.

      Clear draw interval is for the doodle. The doodle board will be cleared automatically by the interval you set.

      And the rest part is to set the method of storing user information and chat history. You can save them to a file or record them in a database, esp. to integrate with your other database. By default, the option file format is checked. If you want to save the user information and chat history to a remote database, please refer to the article Install Chat's Database and PHP interface description at first.

      When you finish your setting, click "OK" to save the change.

      Room Settings:

      In this panel, the administrator can add and remove rooms. There are also many settings for the room:

      • Room title --- the administrator can name the room by filling in this blank.

      • Room owner --- room owners are pointed by administrator. And there can be more than one room owners in one chat room. And the room owners' names should be separated by "," without space

      • Max membership --- the user number in the room can be limited by the admin. It can be set to 50, 100, or just 2.

      • Room password --- the room also can be locked by a password set by the admin. Only the user who knows the password can enter the room.

      • Room type --- the room is for all the users or member only. If you tick the square in front of "Member only", then only the register users can enter this room.

      • Welcome --- here the admin can write down the welcome news to the user who enter the room. When he or she enters the room, he or she will see the news.

      • Room --- here you can write something about the room. It maybe "Movie fan" or "sports", or "welcome to chat with the financial consultant". It is shown in the room list of the chat lobby.

      User Management:

      In this panel, the admin can ban the improper words in user register name or login name.

      And you also can filter some improper words in the message. So when the user sends a message with a word you have set to be filtered, The word won't be shown in the chat.

      If you don't want someone has the access of your chat, you can just ban the user by his or her IP. Then the banned user can't login your chat with his or her IP.

      Multiple News Broadcast Feature:

      Here you can set the news on the top of the Chat. And you have choice on which room users can see the broadcast. If you choose Broadcast, the news will be shown scrolling on the bar at the top of Chat window. If you choose a room, then the news will be only shown in the public chat window of that room.

      TIPS: When the admin edits the broadcast news, the system takes the first line as title. The user can click message in the rolling bar then see the whole message.

      Instant Monitoring function:

      Here the administrator can see the entire user's log in/out information and chat history. There are three buttons at the bottom.

      Stop: Stop monitoring. When you click the button, all the information (users' log in/out and chat history) won't be recorded. And the button changes into "Start". Re-click the button; you will start the monitoring function again.

      Clear: Clear all the record including users' log in/out and chat history.

      Clear Doodle: Clear the doodle immediately.
