Are you confident in there are sixty seconds in one minute? But recently one of the IDT companies announced that lots of corporations, which provide phone cards, give just 36 seconds in exchange of 60. A lot of reputed companies asserted that it can't be any fair rivalry if one of rivals has unjust advantages before the beginning of a rivalry. In 2007 IDT/UTA (Union Telecard Alliance) began a suit against several corporations-providers of prepaid phone cards alleging erroneous advertisement and deceptive commerce operations. According to IDT press release, some of their competitors just provide 60 percent of the declared minutes to the client. In November 2007 Total Call International, Inc. and IDT/UTA have received a full resolution of the lawsuit delivered by IDT Telecom, Inc. and Union Telecard Alliance, LLC against Total Call. This brings to four the number of accused groups which have resolved the enforcement proceedings initiated by IDT/UTA earlier this year. Today there is a list of other defendants includes about six corporations and some of them are: Epana Networks Inc., Dollar Phone Corp., etc.. IDT/UTA's suit versus the residuary defendants is still continuing in federal tribunal in Newark, New Jersey. Newly I saw a post on one of telephone card connected websites where a softswitch developer showed his system. The new method allows any client to define the size of the minute that suits him the best, and the company will deduct units form the balance and the client will have an opportunity to examine exactly how many units were deducted and how many remain. But this system is not their invention. From now, every call card company should change all the terms and the system of payment this way. That signifies that the international phone card, that is for $10.00, gives you 1000 minutes for conversations! Please, select the phone card properly to elude the possibility of being deceived. The companies, which have been involved in this story, engaged for returning the whole amount of minutes to their client as soon as they can. IDT/UTA believes that until all defendants have consented to follow to that standard, it is profitable for the pending prosecution of this lawsuit to get a streamlined litigation with fewer accused. They have to accede to promote industry best usages and rules that defend clients of pay before hand card services and that establish a level playing field for all corporations that promote, and provide telephone services for, prepaid cards. They accede to evolve rules and mechanisms for checking the accuracy of disclosures and disclaimers made in connection with prepaid phone cards. The participants also agreed to undertake efforts to promote such standards amid all pay beforehand card services and to promote self-sufficient tracing of compliance with such standards.
