Vitamin E Help Scars Heal Fast - Is it true?

Just before the turn of the century scientists did a study to see if it was true that vitamin E help scars heal quickly. Patients who had minor surgery done were given ointments that were labeled A and B. One of these ointments contained vitamin E while the other did not. These patients applied the ointment for a total of twelve weeks, two times a day. What scientists discovered was that there was no difference in healing or making the scars disappear. Still today there are many who consider vitamin E as a healer with benefits to the skin. Since many physicians still feel there are benefits to vitamin E healing skin , some doctors took it upon themselves to see if vitamin E help scars heal faster or better. This study took 80 patients who had suffered some sort of scar trauma. Another known scar healer is known as a silicon plate that can be placed over a scar and is found to be helpful in improving the skin. In this study 40 were given silicon plates with vitamin E while the other 40 had silicon plates containing no vitamin E. The physicians inspected the patients at 4 weeks and again at 8 weeks and noted the results. The conclusion was that vitamin E help scars heal better and faster when included in the silicon sheets. Even though many consumers believe that vitamin E cures are an old wives tale, today doctors and scientists believe that when using vitamin E oil with silicone plates can be helpful to scarred tissues. With this is mind, scientists are doing further studies to see if vitamin E combined with other ingredients can be helpful for skin moisturizing and other skin ailments. If you are considering vitamin E to help your scars, then speak to your physician about obtaining silicon sheets to use along with vitamin E oil.
