Every night when the 90210 TV show was aired, young impressionable little girls would tune in to find out if pretty boy Dylan was dating either Kelly or Brenda. The girls loved the bad ass image Dylan exuded. My friends told me that they found his ability to take care of his girl to be such a turn on. He had a lot of money and that was what he used to "take care" of them. Is the affect of Beverly Hills 90210 TV episode good or bad? A lot of girls I know have grown up with watching Beverly Hills 90210. I talked to them about their poor choice of men and their failing relationships. They all seem to realize later in life that the images of women the 90210 TV show portrayed were what contributed to their present taste in men. This seems logical enough. A lot of people blame the media for their education. Killers, murderers, and rapists can all be quite easily gain access to violence and pornography through the medium of film. But this argument cannot be definitive. Once can't keep on blaming the media. For isn't the media simply a reflection of the advancements in our society and our collective morals and beliefs that are changed by events and advancements? However, though it is a reflection, it is still undeniably a force of change in itself. So which one came first, the chicken or the egg? The television show that best describes my reason behind my mate selection is Beverly Hills, 90210. Every Wednesday night at 8pm, I would tune in to find out who Dylan McKay was dating that week, would it be Brenda or Kelly? I just loved the bad boy image. There was just something about him that was just so attractive, and the best thing about him was that he could support any girl he was with. He had the funds to take care of his girlfriend. So, that Dylan McKay image is what I based my mate search on, having a sexy appearance and stable enough to take care of me. Like I said earlier, I'm not a gold-digger, I just want to be taken care of, and if you have an issue with that...blame it on the media. I have been watching the show and I see that not much has changed. They have just amplified the sex though. The characters are also so thin. Shenea looks like she has some form of eating disorder. It could be either bulimia or anorexia. Ok, so all of that are just rumors. What is undeniable though is the fact that they are so skinny. And this is the new thing that they are promoting to young girls everywhere. Mass media sets the standard in acceptable ways for me to portray my love type. Many people think that I am a director, because I have good leadership skills, but in actuality my leadership is limited due to social acceptance (i.e. harsh demands, screaming and yelling is socially unacceptable). Having a director love type with the mass media all around me, I have found out that society makes me look bad. Strong, straightforward, decision-makers, who are directors, are always portrayed as the rude, bossy, bitch that nobody likes, either male or female. Society gives off the vibe that you have to be a bitch to make good decisions, but that is not the case for me.
