What is Happening with Digital TV?
|
This decision would mean that Americans would have to have a digital tuner so that they can receive digital TV signals when their terrestrial television goes down. Everything was running smooth until the government-funded program ran out of money. The campaign was supposed to educate and facilitate the big switch, with the help of government-provided coupons that would make these converters free or next to nothing. However, the organization has since run out of coupons. What is going to happen now? Well, yes, millions of Americans could order satellite or cable TV but many sources believe this will not happen, at least not on a widespread scale. So what happens now? That means tough cookies for millions of home viewers who will be without cable, without TV and without digital tuners. Though there are rumors of DTV coupon waiting lists, the likelihood of these coupons coming any time soon is small. President Obama recently pleaded with congress to allow a postponement of the mandated cut off date. He asked if it would be possible to delay the switch until June. At first some Republicans blocked the efforts to push back the deadline, though the latest news suggests that Democrats and Republicans may be working on a compromise. Only time will tell on what the popular vote decides, but in the mean time it looks as if many people will lose their television signals in February 2009. Why worry about this silliness? Why not save yourself the trouble of gathering coupons and spending lots of money on the same channels that you watch now for free? When you order satellite TV you get all of your network favorites in addition to premium movie channels and in addition to dozens of sports, entertainment and special interest channels. Satellite TV offers full sports packages with all the team coverage you usually miss, live as it happens and game-by-game. Satellite TV, including one of the top providers in DirecTV, also offers many special features like DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and special 1080p HDTV content. DVR allows viewers to digitally record all of their favorite shows with just the click of a button. There is also a feature that allows you to remotely activate your DVR from any Internet connection, such as a cell phone or laptop. The HDTV 1080p is a high resolution, essentially the equivalent of a Blu-Ray disc. It is easy to see the advantages of satellite TV over D-TV, which apparently is not even organized well enough to take seriously. No disrespect intended towards the American government, but it looks as if satellite TV has your plan beat! About The Author: For the best TV viewing experience, go with Direct TV. When you select one of the great Direct TV packages, you get premium entertainment from the leading provider of HD satellite programming. |
