The reason this is so is because of the modularization of the sofa, for the most part. Usually, most of these sofas will spend their lives as a single unit, ready to go into a corner of a room and add some style to it. But the sections can also serve separate purposes. At any rate, it's a good idea - at least at first--to go with a center section and a minimum of two other sections, maybe a loveseat and a chaise lounge. This can help to contribute to the sense that a possibly-bare room might have a bit more furniture in it than is really the case. For the most part, a fully utilizable corner sofa is made up of one corner section and two end sections, like a loveseat down one axis and a chaise down the other axis. There's really no end to the number of pieces that can be joined up, but there will need to be at least three in order for a corner sofa system to really work well. Corner sofa-type pieces can also be an excellent way for someone on a budget or who's just getting going on decorating a small apartment or even studio apartment to get a relatively great amount of furniture while staying within a tight budget. As far as cost goes, a decent-quality three-piece can be found in some stores for around five-hundred dollars. Include a few tables and a lamp or two, and you're set. There are also a great many fabrics, styles, materials and colors that corner sofas can come in. Microfiber and leather continue to be the preferred coverings, though leather can be a little pricey. These pieces of furniture also come as sofa beds, which can help in cases where they're going into a studio apartment that has no bedroom. No matter how you look at it, corner sofas can fill a very useful purpose in almost any room where space might be at a premium, or where the budget is constrained or where they're going into a studio apartment and there's no bedroom. They can be kept as a single couch or sofa or split apart into constituent pieces. They tend to deliver a lot of value and style for relatively little money.
