When Climate Controlled Storage Will Not Work

If you have been noticing lately that you have an abundance of personal belongings, outdated furniture, boxes of rarely worn clothing and never played with toys, and a few too many lawn and garden accessories for someone who is living in an apartment, then perhaps it is time that you consider downsizing. And with good reason. It is often thought that people who live in cluttered, crowded or messy environments are more stressed out than those who live in a more neat, orderly and spacious environment. If you are stressed to the max by your mess, then why not store your excess clutter within the safe, clean and dry walls of climate controlled storage units ?

The space within these rooms is always kept at a comfortable level, usually between 55 and 80 degrees. Though the temperatures vary slightly from day to day, they never drop below or rise above the set minimum or maximum degrees. This means that you need not worry about storing items that may warp, buckle, crack or crumble when exposed to extreme heat or cold, because the temperature within the room stays fairly consistent, just as if it were your own home. Whether your local weatherman is predicting an icy freeze, or a sizzling heat wave, your furniture and other valuables will be just fine. Climate controlled storage units also reduce risk of mold and mildew from forming on your belongings, as the consistency of the temperature prohibits humidity from reaching extremely high levels.

But while you may think that climate controlled storage units are perfect for all of your storing needs, unfortunately, this is just not the case. If you happen to be an ice sculptor, and you are considering storing your latest work of fine frozen art, a frigid sculpture of a herd of elephants for the upcoming charity ball at your local zoo, then please, do not store them in one of these spaces! Even though the room itself may be cool enough for you to sit comfortably in, it would be nowhere near cold enough to keep your elephants from turning into drippy, trunkless blobs. Plus, all of the water that would puddle around on the floor around them would not only be very messy, but it would also raise the humidity level of the space. Not good at all!

Ok, then, if you cannot store your ice sculptures there, then maybe you will be able to use the location for your second moonlighting business. After all, the space itself looks like there will be plenty of room to grow your Christmas poinsettias in time to sell them come December, right? Nope, sorry. Once again, you are going to be disappointed. You see, though these crimson flowers are extremely beautiful, they just require way to much heat in order to grow. There is no way that climate controlled storage units would ever be hot enough to simulate the warmth of the sun! You are just going to have to build a greenhouse for your poinsettia crop, it looks like.

Climate controlled storage units may be great for storing almost everything, but if it needs freezing cold air or burning hot heat to store well, then you may just have to go somewhere else. Other than that, you can feel good that your belongings feel good, in the comfortable, not too hot and not too cool environment that you have specially chosen just for them. All of the boxes of your childrens old toys that they forbade you to ever throw away will thank you for storing them in climate controlled storage units . And if they do not, then one of these days maybe your children will.
