Why Choose A Cantilever Umbrella

Most of us are familiar with the traditional patio umbrella which utilized a center hole in the table that supported the umbrella and a weighted base. But in our modern times there is no reason to put up with this style of umbrella when you can own a cantilever umbrella.

Cantilever does not use this old school method of thinking. It is much more innovative and provides a great deal more flexibility and much better protection from the dangerous UV rays.

Skin cancer is growing at an alarming rate and most of us are being much more cautious about our sun exposure. After all we aren't going to take any unnecessary chances. Thus manufacturers of patio of furniture have taken note and a producing umbrellas that do a much better job of protecting you.

Today skin cancer is growing at an alarming rate and most of us are much more aware and take extra precautions to ensure we stay safe. That means we put more demands on the industry as well to provide products that work for us.

With the center mount table the biggest problem is who gets the sun. The table really benefited the most from the umbrella staying nice and cool but most recipients got either partial or full exposure to the sun's harmful rays.

The cantilever umbrella has not center pole and thus provides a much better radius of protection. The umbrella has a pole that is located on the outside and then there is an arm which rotates. You can have a complete 360 degree rotation and you never have to move the base to do so. That means you get continuous protection.

You can use it with any type of table, you can place it in just about any location, and you don't have to worry about the restrictions of the old styles. You can even set it up so that it can be used to protect opposing furniture.

There are a variety of sizes available but the 10' x 10' size is the most common providing 100 square feet of shade. There are many different fabrics and materials used so you'll want to do a little research to see which is best for your needs.

Solefin is a fabric used by Santorini and it has earned quite the reputation for providing a quality product plus it comes with an awesome fade resistant warranty. There are other top quality products too.

One very unique feature to these umbrellas is the wind vent. This vent keeps the umbrella stable and ensures that the wind cannot grab it and toss it around. When the air can escape there is little pressure created and thus the umbrella stays put. Such simple technology is so innovative.

Frames are usually made of aluminum which is strong and versatile and will stand up to most demands. The crank lets you easily and quickly raise and lower your umbrella and you get a full 360 degree rotation.

The base holds 100 to 200 pounds of sand so your umbrella will have plenty of weight to keep it in place. But you need to make sure where you put it is where you want it because dragging that base around isn't real easy. Of course if you've got a Hercules living near you then don't worry about it. Don't fill the base until you are sure it's in the right position.

A cantilever umbrella is an excellent choice especially if you want to step outside the box. So what are you waiting for?
