Here is a simple idea: a patio can be covered with a few big umbrellas. This is a very inexpensive option. When the sun shines, you just need to move the umbrellas to fend off the light. When you want to discover the patio, you can just gather the umbrellas with a simple push of buttons. But this method cannot be very reliable, as it cannot do much when the weather is running wild. A canopy is more likely to resist, although not too much, either. A latticework trellis is a beautiful option, not very practical, but gorgeous in terms of design. As said before, in order to get rid of the rain, and still be able to use your patio, you will need something more than just an umbrella, a canopy or a trellis. An awning is what you need so you can protect yourself and your guests from the rain; this protection is motorized and it is so easy to install that you will even enjoy the process. When you search for a good awning, you will need to watch carefully for the right material. Search for one that is resilient to the action of sun and of rain, and you will have a great covered patio.
