Why Nuisance to Wipe Your Hard Drive

When you remove a file from your computer hard drive, it might seem as it has gone forever. In fact, it is not the case. The apparently permanent deletion procedure really leaves the file intact on the hard drive.

When you delete a file, it is just marked as 'deleted', and the occupied space is accordingly marked as 'ready for use' by the operating system. Consequently, it might be overwritten when more hard drive space is required, but this is not certain by any means, unless the whole hard drive is filled by the data.

Now, the data that was stored in the file is still on the hard drive, even after hard drive formatting or deletion. It makes the data available for recovery, generally done via specially designed hard drive recovery software.

The grounds, why the file deletion is not as systematic as it could be, is the common one- resource management. In fact, overwriting every bit of the file will use more computer resources than would be realistic, for everyday use. Actually, the general file deletion and hard drive formatting is enough for general computer users.

However, the security considerations may necessitate the absolute erasure of the hard drive. When you reassign the hard drive, for example, or switch the computers around, private data may need to be deleted.

To lower the data recovery possibilities, hard drive wipe is required. Drive wipe is possible through the specially designed third party applications known as Disk Wipe software.

When the hard drive wipe is carried out, the whole area of the hard drive is in fact overwritten with the arbitrary binary digits; it means that the stored data will become practically impossible to recover. Roughly no traces of previously stored data is left, making wipe hard drive is a secure improvement upon general deletion.

The number of passes, which are performed by the drive wipe software, depends on the algorithm used to wipe the drive. Doing drive wipe is generally as easy as clicking a few buttons of simply designed application.

The drive wipe software run automatically when you boot your computer from the CD. In drive wipe software, you need to select the appropriate drive, to be wiped, and select the algorithm to perform drive wipe.

Stellar Disk Wipe is the most powerful and the securest drive wipe software which is capable of completely wiping all of the data from your hard drive and making it away from the data recovery feasibilities.

This software performs up to 35 random passes to overwrite the data and has 29 different drive wipe algorithms. The software comes in bootable CD and doesn't require to be installed.

The wipe hard drive software allows you to select a drive wipe algorithms by yourself. The previously deleted data files and locked system files can also be deleted using this wipe hard drive software.
