Wind Powered Cars are the Future Green Vehichle

Wind powered cars are often thought of as sail cars just blowing in the direction that the wind takes them, but this is no longer true. Today wind powered cars covert wind power into electric energy. This electric energy then moves the vehicle. Wind would continually charge the car's battery making this an energy efficient vehicle. With today's gas prices steadily increasing, wind powered cars are the way of the future.

Today going green means coming up with some type of efficient wind powered cars. Most wind powered cars will derive part of its energy from wind and the other is usually derived from electricity. Wind power can be used to charge an energy device such as the cars battery to ensure the vehicle will work when no wind is being generated. A few years ago an inventor by the name of Hikoshichi Takahashi patented a wind powered generator that will sit on the top of an automobile. This wind powered device funnels the air into the generator to produce electricity. Once this invention becomes refined, we will see an increase in efficient green powered cars.

Solar powered cars already exist but what about combination solar and wind power cars? In 2007 a solar powered golf cart hit the market but what makes this vehicle unusual is that it also uses wind power. This solar efficient golf carts force wheel rotates by using wind power making car manufacturers take a second look at wind power operation. The wind also charges the golf carts battery. So what happens on days where there's no sun and not a breeze in sight? This golf cart can then be plugged in and once the battery is recharged, you are then all set to go.

So you may be asking if there any wind powered cars available on the market today. The general answer to this would be no but if you're in the market for a golf cart or a small toy version then the answer is yes. Still you must remember that so far, no wind powered cars have been made to exclusively run off wind alone. The wind is just not strong enough to push a heavily constructed vehicle. More than likely when wind powered cars become available, they will work in combination with electricity and most likely also work by partially solar powered energy.
