Place your little finger on that key – it’s the final note of the C chord. Play all these notes simultaneously and you’ll find that you’ll make a striking sound. 4) Acquaint yourself with the sequence mentioned – 1, followed by 5, and 8 in counting. When starting with any note, remember to count and include the sharps and flats as well. Use these chords as the base. You can also do this when you prefer to start on a sharp note; it would then be a sharp chord. 5) Consider practice as the single most important thing in learning how to play piano by ear. You’ll find that when you count and listen often, the task becomes easier. One example would be when the number 5 in the chord falls by 1 key, meaning that you’re now on the number 4 key. As a result, the major chord has turned into a minor. In the event that you’re on the C chord, sliding your finger one key to the left creates a C minor chord. By listening closely, you will learn how to identify the various notes and differentiate them from each other. As long as you don’t really have any hearing defects, you will know how to spot slight tune changes.
